President Duterte to PDP-Laban: ‘Maintain your integrity’

PASAY CITY — President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Friday, August 31, 2018, graced the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) leadership assembly at the gymnasium of the GSIS Financial Center in Roxas Boulevard.

The Chief Executive lauded PDP-Laban for being a “principled [political] party,” and encouraged its members to maintain the party’s integrity.

He then reassured the PDP-Laban members of his full support as “we move forward in realizing our dream of building a stronger and more prosperous nation.”

“I trust that every member of PDP-Laban will be with me as we bring about real and lasting change for the sake of our people and our democratic institutions, and for our children, and their children to come,” he expressed.

Meanwhile, President Duterte underscored that the public interest must be preserved and protected at all costs as he renewed his commitment to have a clean and honest 2019 elections.

“It will be clean. The votes will be cast and will be counted correctly,” he said.

He added that this administration would not allow intimidation and vote-buying during the mid-term elections. President Duterte emphasized that everyone, regardless of the political party, will be treated fairly.

He then stated that he would establish checkpoints nationwide. This is to limit the number of security guards and firearms of the candidates and make sure we have a secured campaign and election period.

“I will limit the firearms to only two. Uniformed security, dalawa lang,” the President pointed out.

“You must surrender your excess firearms. Do not go around in excess of about two. But we will assign every candidate ng security, pero wala talaga yang terrorism-terrorism na yan,” he added.

The President reinforced that such order also goes to the members of the PDP-Laban because this mandate does not exclude anyone.

The PDP-Laban Leadership Assembly was attended by 300 people composed of the party’s members and invited guests. ### PND
