MANILA – Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar has extended his gratitude to the Chinese business group, Philippine Fujian General Business Association (PFGBA), for its generous donation to the agency on February 24, 2021.
During the signing of the deed of donation and acceptance on Wednesday, PCOO Undersecretary for Administration and Legal Affairs Marvin Gatpayat represented the PCOO chief and formally received donations which include various COVID-19-related supplies.
Amid the pandemic, PFGBA has been working hard to provide government frontliners with medical supplies and other items to prevent COVID-19 exposure, such as but not limited to face masks, face shields, and alcohol.
“I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our most sincere gratitude towards our partners for your indispensable assistance in providing the necessary medical supplies and items for the benefit of government personnel,” Usec. Gatpayat said.
The donation will be given to the PCOO workforce to help and protect them from exposure to COVID-19.
“Today, such commitment towards nation-building is hereby affirmed by their acts of generosity in extending the necessary assistance towards our government personnel,” he said.
“Truly, the genuine nature of every human being, or an association for that matter, is being manifested during a time of crisis wherein most, if not all, would seek to protect their own interest,” he added.
Also present during the event were PCOO Assistant Secretary Ryan Vincent Uy, and PFGBA officials, including President Andy Co, Vice President Cesar Go, Director Allan Lim, and Director and OIC Vincent Chan.
PFGBA is one of the oldest Chinese business associations in the Philippines located in Binondo, Manila. They are groups of micro, small and medium enterprises of Chinese businessmen in the Philippines. At present, PFGBA has more than 4,000 members.
They also donated the same medical supplies for other government agencies like the Office of the President (OP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Department of National Defense (DND). ###
