President Aquino issues proclamations declaring special non-working days in some provinces
President Benigno S. Aquino III has issued proclamations declaring special non-working holidays in two municipalities in Oriental Mindoro and La Union, Valencia City in Bukidnon, and Navotas City for January 2016.

President Aquino signed last December 17 Proclamation No. 1183 declaring January 4 (Monday) a special non-working day in the municipality of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro province in celebration of its 111th Founding Anniversary.

Proclamation No. 1184 declared January 5 (Tuesday) a special non-working day to give the people of the municipality of Bauang, La Union province the opportunity to celebrate their Baggak Festival and the 430th Bauang Foundation Anniversary.

President Aquino also issued Proclamation No. 1185 declaring January 12 (Tuesday) a special non-working day in Valencia City, Bukidnon province in commemoration of its Foundation Day.

Meanwhile, Proclamation No. 1180 declared January 16 (Saturday) a special non-working day in Navotas City in celebration of its 110th Founding Anniversary. PND (co)

President Aquino to lead Rizal Day commemoration on Wednesday
President Benigno S. Aquino III will lead the national commemoration of the 119th death anniversary and martyrdom of the country’s national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal, on Wednesday (December 30).In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said President Aquino would lead the flag-raising ceremony in honor of Rizal at the Luneta Park in Manila.

“On Wednesday, for the last time during his term, President Aquino will lead the flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the death anniversary of our national hero, Jose Rizal,” he said.

Secretary Lacierda said President Aquino, over the course of his administration, has never missed the ceremony.

“This year, he will continue his tradition of recognizing Rizal’s achievements, which serve as inspiration to all Filipinos to aspire for excellence, driven by love for country,” he added.

December 30 has been declared by the national government as a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Rizal Day. PND (co)
