(Recording cut)… the press release of the Presidential Communications Office: The President has already walked an extra mile for peace, he is glad that the CPP-NPA-NDF showed a similar gesture of goodwill as a sign of sincerity to the peace process days prior on our talks in Oslo, Norway.
We therefore feel optimistic that the mutual efforts of both sides would lead to fruitful negotiations that could pave the way for substantive discussions in the hope of putting an end to one of Asia’s longest running insurgencies.
And Mai, I’d like to add on that statement…
Go ahead, Secretary.
Yes. I believe that Secretary Jess Dureza had an early conversation at dawn, this morning, with the President and the President did express his willingness to reciprocate the declaration to coincide [with the] declaration of ceasefire with [the] CPP-NPA. But I would like to give the official announcement to Secretary Jess Dureza, who will be on his way to the airport in a few hours to fly to Oslo, Norway – and I understand that he has a press conference there.
Uhum. We will expect that formal statement from Secretary Jess Dureza before he leaves for Oslo, sir.
Yes ma’am. And as I understand the reciprocation of the ceasefire should be effective at 12 midnight, August 21.
Alright. Thank you for taking our call. Communications Secretary Martin Andanar.
Thank you, Mai.
