President’s decision on face shields is science-based – Palace

The decision of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on the continued use of face shields both outdoors and indoors is based on science and evidence-based studies, which show that face shields give an additional layer of protection, especially in light of the risks brought about by the highly transmissible Delta variant of COVID-19.

On the travel restrictions

The travel restriction imposed to passengers coming from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sr Lanka, Nepal, United Arab Emirates, and Oman was extended until June 30, 2021 to ensure continuous strict border control to prevent the Delta variant from reaching our communities and having community transmission.


On the use of face shields

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) resolved to recommend to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte the mandatory wearing of face shields in enclosed / indoor spaces of hospitals, schools, workplaces, commercial establishments (such as but not limited to food establishments, malls and public markets), public transport and terminals, and places of worship.


On inbound international travel of fully vaccinated individuals

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), in its Resolution No. 119, resolved that all arriving fully vaccinated individuals, who have been inoculated in the Philippines shall be required to undergo a 7-day facility-based quarantine upon arrival.
